When the lovely Lady Langoustine is kidnapped by her unwanted admirer, the villainous Count Vincent de la Courgette, a tangled web of chaos erupts—fuelled by jealousy, love, and revenge. As if one abduction were not enough, the treacherous Baroness Camilla Gribiche, aided by her dim-witted maidservant Helena Handbasket and a specially invented tracking device, plots to snatch Langoustine from Vincent’s clutches and imprison her in a tower for all eternity—unless Langoustine gives up her love for the dashing Alexander Scampi surrendering him to Gribiche.
Fleeing into the deep, dark forest, Langoustine narrowly escapes one peril only to face another, pursued by flesh-eating hyenas and delivered straight into the vile clutches of the tyrannous pirate Captain Ricardo Calamaro. Ricardo schemes to lure Scampi to his pirate lair and finish him off once and for all, securing Lady Langoustine’s love for himself.
With the help of a kindly ranger, Sebastian Saintly, and The Slice Girls—a fearsome band of kitchenmaids turned utensil-wielding crime-fighters—Scampi embarks on a swashbuckling quest that takes him through the deep, dark forest, down treacherous ravines, and across the high seas to rescue his one true love—his “lobster”—just in time for Lord Fondue à la Fromage’s grand ball.
This fast-paced one-act melodrama is packed with punchy puns, vile villains and villainesses, bumbling sidekicks, swooning declarations of love, sword fights, gallant heroes, dainty damsels in distress, and a rousing battle song guaranteed to awaken your inner Spice Girl and demon hunter.
A joyful collision of classic melodramatic tropes with contemporary metaphors and pop-culture flair, Of Love and Lobsters serves up everything an audience could crave—served hot, salty, and gloriously over the top.
